Brian Donovan Alaskan brown bear hunting The temperate coasts of Alaska offer the Alaska brown bears with ample food, sufficient to sustain 98% of the US brown bear population. These solitary creatures are predisposed to evade the company of other bears. Nushagak River drains into the Bristol Bay, and then into the Bering Sea, off the coast of Alaska. Another 8 rivers drain into the Bristol Bay, providing a fertile fishing ground, with record numbers of salmon heading up each of these rivers towards their spawning grounds.
